HOW TO GET TO THE CAMPUS

Cantoblanco University Campus is well connected with Madrid-Barajas Airport, Madrid downtown and some of the closer surrounding cities (Alcobendas, Colmenar Viejo, and Tres Cantos).

by TRAIN

“Cercanías” train service is the most reliable transportation means to reach the Campus.  CANTOBLANCO UNIVERSIDAD station is directly connected to Madrid Downtown (Sol station) in 20 minutes, and other important train stations (Chamartin 10 min, Nuevos Ministerios 15 min, Atocha 25 min) in similar times.  Alcobendas (Valdelasfuentes station 10 min, and Alcobendas-SSReyes station 15 min), Tres Cantos (8 min) are also directly connected by C4a and C4b Cercanías lines. You can check the time tables at the Cercanías web site (http://www.renfe.com/viajeros/cercanias/madrid/)

by BUS

Interurban bus lines also directly connect the campus with Madrid (714 bus line from Plaza Castilla bus station), Alcobendas (827 bus line) or Tres Cantos (also 827 bus line). These bus lines stop near the Engineering Faculty, 200m away from IFT-ICMAT buildingTravel times are under 20 min but subjected to traffic conditions, which may be busy at peak times (coinciding with NALS2020 session starting times, around 9-9:30 am).

From the airport

There are two bus lines that will take you from the airport to the Campus: 827 and 828. Click here for more information. Note that they stop at Madrid-Barajas Airport terminal 4, so if you arrive at terminals 1, 2 or 3, first you will have to take a free shuttle bus to get to terminal 4. Click here to see the information.

At THE CAMPUS

Getting around the campus is easy.  All the buildings are at walking distance, but be aware that crossing the campus from CANTOBLANCO UNIVERSIDAD (train) station to the IFT-ICMAT building takes around 15-20 minutes.

You can find the following relevant spots at this online campus map:

Plaza Mayor building, where different services you may need are available:

  • Pharmacy
  • Medical service (first aids)
  • Restaurants
  • Copy/Print service
  • Computer Shop

(There is also another Copy/Print service at the Cantoblanco train station).

LUNCH TIME

Many cafeterias and restaurants can be found in the campus. In the program book we only point out the closest ones to the conference venue.

IMDEA cafeteria is pretty small and used to be crowded. We strongly recommend the other options, to avoid long time waiting for a seat.

In the main lunch restaurant in Plaza Mayor, you can find standard menu as well as pizza, cakes and drinks. Inside this restaurant you will also find a small shop with basic things like tissues, bath gel, snacks, etc.

There is a self-service in the Erasmo Residence (not mentioned in the programme book), where you will also enjoy nice views towards Madrid, while taking an afternoon beer. This cafeteria has a small shop inside as well.

CONFERENCE NETWORKING DINNER

During your check in at the conference desk, you will be asked about your attendance to the Conference dinner. If you have any food allergy or dietary requirements, please indicate it during the registration process
